8 out of 10 children with disabilities do not go beyond the high school/secondary school level in Nigeria. They beg for alms and become a passive member of society.
Children with disabilities are among the most marginalized groups in Africa. 95.5% of children with disabilities are out of school in Nigeria. The statistics are worse when it comes to the empowerment of children with disabilities. They are stereotyped in every society in Nigeria.
In the long run, this affects them when it comes to being independent and employable as a person with disabilities. We want to build a TVET centre to cater for digital and vocational skills such as arts and crafts, hairdressing, tailoring, barbing, stove wicking and shoe-making skills.
Purpose:
The empowerment and education of children with disabilities in Nigeria are in crisis. But with skill empowerment, we will help each child with a disability develop their abilities and their curiosity for learning. We will make them employable and independent in the future. There are so many abilities in any disability. The TVET centre will enable children with disabilities to become active members of society and contribute to the GDP of the nation.
Track Record:
We have renovated three public inclusive schools and equipped their vocational centres which gave 268 children with disabilities access to quality education and the acquisition of lifelong skills.
Our Request:
Raising Star Africa Foundation caters for children with disabilities holistically to become self-reliant and able to contribute their quota to the nation. Most importantly, we prepare them for the future. We humbly ask for your generous donation to build a Raising Star Africa TVET centre. With our limited resources, we have been able to impact more than 3500 children with disabilities with holistic education and lifelong skills. With your support, we can reach 1 million children with disabilities through skill empowerment. Every child irrespective of their disability has a dream and their dream is valid.
